What Is Prime Day? We Have The Answers!

Today (7/6), Amazon unveiled a day of deals, Prime Day, that will match and even beat most of the deals consumers would expect to find at Black Friday Sales Events. The global shopping event takes place July 15 and celebrates Amazon turning 20. The one-day shopping event features “exclusive deals from electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports and outdoor items and more.”

To be eligible for this shopping event, one must be a Prime member, which is Amazon’s annual membership service that unlocks free two-day shipping (with no minimum order size), early access to Amazon Lightning Deals, unlimited movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Video, unlimited music streaming with Prime Music, and unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos. Amazon Prime is currently offered for $99 per year; however, those that currently do not have a Prime account can unlock a free 30-day trial to gain access to the exclusive Prime Day shopping event.

What Is Prime Day?

On Wednesday, July 15, new and existing Amazon Prime members will gain access to deals starting at midnight. New deals will be released about every ten minutes. Although the specific deals have yet to be released, the Amazon Press Release mentions that members will be able to “shop thousands of Lightning Deals, seven popular Deals of the Day and receive unlimited fast, free shipping.” Many of these deals might be perfect for summer adventures or give you an early chance to do some back-to-school shopping. Prime members can access deals from smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices.

Prime Day is a one-day only event filled with more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members around the globe.

#PrimeLiving Photo Contest

In addition to the shopping deals, Amazon will be holding a photo contest with the chance to win a $10,000 Amazon Gift Card. Here is how to enter the #PrimeLiving Photo Contest:

  • Choose or take a photo of your happiest moment. Check out the Amazon Facebook page for ideas.
  • Submit your photo to the contest. Remember only one entry per Prime account, so choose your best photo.
  • You’ve submitted! Now you can visit Amazon’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages to see if we’ve shared your photo. We will email you once we have chosen the winners.

Visit the #PrimeLiving Photo Contest page for more info.

This event is sure to appeal to spontaneous bargain shoppers. Assuming this event is popular with it’s members, expect deals to go fast (i.e. limited quantities).

As the shopping event nears, we are certain that rumored deals will make their way online. Feel free to share any deals you hear about (before the start of Prime Day) using the comments section below.
